Utica and Marcellus Shale Rig Count Remains Constant

With all the news about depressed natural gas process, the rig count for the week of April 27 has a total of 131 rigs in PA, OH and WV.  That’s only two less than last year this time.  The rig count by state is as follows:

Observations

• Rig count is somewhat consistent in PA; not a significant drop like many people perceive
• Growing in WV; the state is stronger than thought
• OH rig count is not as high as many people think
