The Atlantic Sunrise, Mariner 2 and the PennEast pipelines will probably have final approvals by the end of the year. All of these pipelines look like they are in the final phase of approvals.
Most noteworthy is the fact that the Commonwealth of PA ruled that Sunoco Logistics is an utility. Therefore, it will ultimately have the ability to build the Mariner 2 pipeline.
Atlantic Sunrise is in the final stages of receiving approval from FERC. The FERC hearings are complete and Williams is now speaking with landowners to receive the right of ways for its Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline.
The PennEast pipeline is under FERC review now. It is looking like construction could begin the second quarter of 2018.
It’s beginning to look like 2017 will be the year that the Atlantic Sunrise and Mariner 2 Pipelines will begin construction. These two big projects will have significant economic impact in the areas where the pipelines will be built.
With the completion of these pipelines, gas companies in northeastern PA will be able to move their gas. The companies operating in this section of PA have seen their production constrained because it could not move their gas. The Atlantic Sunrise will be big boon to these companies.
Stay tuned. The next two years could offer significant opportunity for companies working in the midstream business.
