Ontario-based Canadian Solar Inc. has sold of its Suffield Solar Project in Alberta to BluEarth Renewables, Kallanish Energy reports.
The sales price was not disclosed.
The project, now under construction, will have a capacity of 23 MWac/32 MWp.
When completed, it will be one of the largest solar photovoltaic facilities in Alberta.
The project is expected to begin commercial operations later this year.
It will produce enough electricity to power about 7,300 homes.
The electricity will be purchased by Direct Energy.
The Suffield facility was awarded funding through Natural Resource’s Canada’s Emerging Renewable Power Program for pioneering cutting-edge advancements including bifacial modules and single-axis trackers.
BluEarth Renewables has another solar project under construction and the two projects will provide total solar capacity of 187 MWac.
Its corporate headquarters is in Calgary, Alberta.
