Turkish state-owned company Botas will reduce its natural gas prices to industrial customers in a bid to help the country to boost an economic recovery, Kallanish Energy reports.
Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said earlier this week Botas would be offering discounts ranging from 9.7% to 12.5%. The announcement on Twitter didn’t specify the actual gas prices.
“The reduction in gas prices will have a positive impact on production and employment,” he said. “The wheels of our industry will spin faster and our economic recovery will accelerate.”
Turkey’s energy regulator EMRA said in a separate statement there would be no increases in electricity prices in the following three months.
