Friends,
It’s been an eventful few weeks since our January update, from Chinese “weather” balloons to President Biden’s State of the Union, and from calls to ban natural gas stoves to dead whales washing ashore possibly due to offshore wind installations. At least the Super Bowl was a fun distraction. And while Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter, we can all “think warm” knowing the boys of summer are in Arizona and Florida and baseball season is just weeks away.
On the CNX front, we held our Q4 2022 earnings update this past January 26. This most recent quarter marked 12 consecutive quarters of the company delivering positive free cash flow and successfully executing upon its Sustainable Business Model. Check out the short clip below where we were asked about our financial/operational strategy and used it as an opportunity to emphasize our capital allocation philosophy and long-termism.
The young men and women of the CNX Foundation Mentorship Academy continue to progress through the Academy’s second year. Check out our visit to the Energy Innovation Center, and look for a forthcoming recap of our most recent visit to Deep Well Services and Evolution Well Services coming soon to Positive Energy Hub. If you or your company would like to get involved in helping shape the Appalachian Region’s next generation of leaders, please send us a note.
And earlier this month I enjoyed a fun conversation with Stu Turley on his Energy News Beat podcast. We discussed CNX’s Appalachia First vision and a range of energy/policy issues.
Be sure to check out nickdeiuliis.com. I’ve added a couple new commentaries, excerpts below, including a discussion on energy sector “externality costs.” I’ll be delving further into that topic in a future Far Middle episode. Speaking of Far Middle, our latest episodes are linked below.
Please follow along on Twitter and LinkedIn for the latest updates. And for your colleagues and friends who may not be on those social platforms, please forward this email along so they can sign-up for monthly updates.
Enjoy the closing weeks of winter and start taking notes for your NCAA brackets!
All my best,
Nick
