Vic Furman says Andrew Cuomo who once called himself Governor Gumby, has, in the collapsed Amazon Deal reaped exactly what he sowed in appeasing fractivists.
Thank you, Governor Gumby and Alexandria O. Cortez. Let me also offer a notice of appreciation to Comrade DiBlasio. Who else could blow off 25,000 jobs in a state suffering still from the decline of 2008? And, then, have so many politicians of the socialist nature call it a victory!
Ours is a state where the population explosion is no longer about new residents moving in, but rather the ticking time-bomb created by our city-dominated legislature and their elected emperor. They are causing a run for the borders, all the while blaming it on the weather, President Trump and upstaters like me, never seeing the reflection of their own actions in the mirror on their own hypocrisy
Governor Cuomo lost the battle for Amazon, yet one can imagine he must have felt some grudging admiration for the immature Cortez, who took credit for beating him. After all, he praised the vocal minority he sought to appease in shutting down gas drilling in Upstate New York.
That vocal minority used misinformation and junk science to kill fracking “at this time” and there seems to be zero interest from Gumby in revisiting it, even though our Southern Tier is dying and most now want to leave., The Amazon deal was crushed using the same fear mongering tactics as used in the fight against landowners rights to lease in Upstate. How could Gumby not smile at Cortez? She’s his kind of gal, isn’t she?
Then just two days later the New York Post runs an article reporting the Buffalo Billion (Cuomo’s SolarCity debacle) has gone bust or as a Russian might say” gone Kaput…” Governor Cuomo can’t pay politically correct industry to come to New York and make a success here and he can’t attract them with ordinary incentives either because the radical discontents he always pampers oppose those companies. It’s lose-lose for Gumby.
Oh the irony! Andrew Cuomo praised those we now know paid protestors for being in the face of economic development that would benefit a struggling upstate. He lauded their anti-gas stance, then starved every region of New York north of Pennsylvania out of natural gas, with denial after denial of critical pipeline infrastructure. He even caused Boston to buy Russian LNG from Gazprom, instead of simply piping it in from Pennsylvania and providing the gas and tens of thousands of jobs at the same time, while keeping our money out of the hands of our enemies.
New York, a state whose flag I held in full military dress, for a bicentennial review by the President of the United States at Americas 200th Birthday Celebration, with pride in my heart in 1976, is now run by corrupted self serving politicians who put themselves and their elite friends above the people they serve! New York sure has made it hard for me to say I love her anymore.
I am old and I may never see gas drilling in my life time and I’m old enough to say exactly what I think. So, let me address the Pied Pipers of Dimock, the phony wannabe documentarians, you who celebrate the short lived bought and paid for temporary victories over economic development with pizza parties in Albany land Manhattan.
You are your own demons and your ways are already coming back to haunt you as the truth comes out in your tactics, and you are forced to confront the monsters you have created.
As you celebrate, know the foreclosures, the lost opportunities and, ever so much more, the hardships you have created; they will be the rocks in your pockets as you swim in the river of your own lies.
It is only a matter of time before the majority of New Yorkers you’ve not chased away rebel against the lowest freedom and highest cost of living in the country You call yourselves progressives but, in fact, you’re taking us backward at mach speed and there will be a bitter political pill to swallow. Governor Gumby just got a small taste of it.
