|Leidy South project reaches in-service dates|
|The Leidy South Expansion Project is moving ahead of schedule, with portions of the project already in-service. The Benton Loop pipeline portion and expansion work at Compressor Station 610 were completed in late August and placed in service on September 1. Progress continues on the Hilltop Loop and Hensel Replacement portions of the project, as well as Compressor Stations 607 and 620. We expect these remaining facilities to be in service for the 2021-22 heating season.
In preparation for the project’s in-service dates, Williams has been hosting first responder training events for local first responders in the project’s footprint. The training sessions for the compressor station portions of the project were held in mid-August in Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties, and the pipeline portion trainings are being held this week in Clinton and Lycoming Counties.
Pennsylvania’s economy is continuing to build momentum in recent years with significant growth in the natural gas industry leading the way. Construction of the Leidy South Project’s two greenfield compressor facilities: stations 607 and 620, has certainly helped. Construction of these facilities alone was estimated to generate $100 million in economic activity within Pennsylvania, supporting 680 jobs with combined earnings of $28 million and produce $1.3 million in state tax revenue.
