Readers pass along a lot of stuff every week about natural gas, fractivist antics, emissions, renewables, and other news relating to energy. As usual, emphasis is added.
So You’re Telling Me This All Fake?
Our friends at Energy In Depth have dug into who is really behind those Canadian rail protests and, unsurprisingly, it’s the usual suspects; spoiled trust-funders from elsewhere:
Transportation and shipping have been massively disrupted in Canada due to protests that—in an attempt to halt the construction of a natural gas pipeline—are blocking among other things, railroads.
…These blockades haven’t just disrupted commuters’ schedules—they have had a huge drain on Canada’s economy, bearing responsibility for layoffs and rising food prices. What’s more, multiple members and elected officials of First Nations have been clear that activists should not misrepresent their views. For example, Rene Skin, the Chief of the Skin Tyee First Nation, was adamant about her tribe’s support.
“We’ve always been in support of the pipeline. We voted together… Lots to do with jobs, up and coming housing, people will be able to start their own companies. For years to come there will be a lot of benefits.”
…One of the most outspoken groups during the blockades has been Extinction Rebellion, which staged a protest outside of British Columbia Premier John Horgan’s home…
Members of Extinction Rebellion would like to ignore how it’s the blockades that are illegal as much as they would like to omit mentions of their ties to foreign funding which props up this group of agitators. Extinction Rebellion’s foreign funding is consistent with other environmental activist groups in Canada who have received millions of dollars to attack the nation’s energy industry.
Christopher Hohn, a British hedge fund manager worth £1.2 billion, personally gave the group £50,000 while his charity, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, gave the group £150,000. Wealthy Americans like Rory Kennedy, daughter of U.S. Senator Robert Kennedy, and Aileen Getty, an heir to the Getty Oil fortune, have also donated generously to support Extinction Rebellion’s radical and disruptive protests.

The situation is beyond ironic: some of the wealthiest people on earth are funding a radical environmental group which is trying to stop a project that would benefit Canada’s economy while making investments in First Nations communities. Adding to the irony is the fact that the Coastal Gaslink pipeline would bring natural gas to markets that are still dependent on higher-emissions fuel sources.
Isn’t it amazing? How is it these rich kids who’ve never done any productive in their entire lives are able to gain such corrupt clout, lining up with an investor in coal in the name of children to protest oil and natural gas in the name of First Nations who don’t even agree?
A LinkedIn post from Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Empire State Development agency says “With unparalleled talent and resources, it’s no wonder leading companies and innovative new businesses choose to start, grow and thrive in NYS.” But, the reaction from commenters tells the true story:
“New York is running business out. Huge potential oil reserves in the Marcellus Shale and NY prohibits the development. Texas received billions in tax revenue last year from oil and gas development. Your $150 Billion infrastructure investment is far too little and much too late.”
“If you have net worth or your retiring, pension etc. you can’t leave the state fast enough or pay a huge burdensome tax hence population migration to other more favorable states. Sorry to rant on this, however, I don’t see the innovation, I see a corrupt system. Sorry New York!”
“Why are thousands leaving New York? Outrageous taxes.”

“Highest taxes in the country, unfriendly business environment, miles of red tape.”
“Really? First you lost Amazon and now just about every major news outlet has published stories about the exodus of New York businesses to New Jersey and Florida.”
“I taxes, burdensome regulation, and a general feeling that if you weren’t born there, you don’t belong there. Any latest state where the mentality that they can do no wrong and anyone else can do no right. Oppressive government interference in every activity. Traffic nightmares, high Crime and drug abuse. No thank you.”

Hmmm….so, it’s not working then? Maybe natural gas?
Meanwhile, Andrew Cuomo Wants to “Restore Mother Nature”
Or, Is He Just Trying to Make A Wilderness of Upstate NY?
New York State is in huge trouble. It’s broke, hemorrhaging population and the least favorite state in which to live. Upstate is withering away but Andrew Cuomo, Governor Corruptocrat, wants to “Restore Mother Nature” with a huge spending program designed to throw money money at special interests and generate opportunities for graft. He seems to be living in another world, in fact, and this email correspondence from Andy the man-child suggests he has left reality for another planet, heading ever upward:
This correspondence could have just as easily come from AOC; it’s that bad. Remember that stupid poster? And, now this piece of sixth grade crap? There’s something seriously wrong with this fellow and it’s only gotten worse since he parted ways with his girlfriend.
