Aaron Price reflects on the contributions of shale energy and natural gas to civil society and the modern comforts of life.
Editor’s Note: Our friend Aaron Price, creator of Gas Odyssey, from Windsor, New York, serves as our poet laureate here at NaturalGasNOW. He has, at our request, written a poem celebrating #WorldShaleEnergyDay by reflecting on where the world would be without the miracle of shale energy and the natural gas and oil we now have in abundance to heat our homes, power our factories, manufacture our pharmaceuticals and produce so many other things so critical to the quality of life we enjoy today. Enjoy Aaron’s exuberance with the wonders of shale energy!.
Where Would We Be?
Where would we be
Without the energy we love?
We now take so
Many things for granted
And there’s never enough!
But once there was a time
When people were
Poor and cold.
Then the world discovered oil,
And good things began to flow.
A Revolution has come
To our land.
We don’t think about
Imported oil as much
Because we found
So much natural gas.
Locked up in the shale
Is the energy we need.
And the best thing
About this energy?
It’s clean and it’s Green.
I don’t get
Why the “other side”
Doesn’t celebrate with us.
We did what they “promised”
And we did it with pride.
Mixing ingenuity
With good science,
Delivering energy
Cheaply, Greenly
And on time.
Often, these days,
Success is countered
With a tax.
Boy, do politicians
And bureaucrats
Ever have a left jab!
But we don’t need
To bob and weave.
We have all the facts
And our man in the ring,
Natural gas, reigns Supreme!
