Nigerian energy firm Oando announced Wednesday a “significant” gas and condensate discovery onshore Niger Delta, Kallanish Energy reports.
The Obiafu-41 Deep Well reached a depth of 14,350 feet encountering an accumulation of 426 feet of high-quality hydrocarbon-bearing sands.
It corresponds to 1 trillion cubic feet of gas and 60 million barrels of associated condensate, according to preliminary analysis.
The well can deliver in excess of 100 million cubic feet per day of gas and 3,000 barrels per day of associated condensates.
The project is a joint venture by Oando with 20%, Italian major Eni’s subsidiary Nigerian Agip Oil Company which owns 20% operated interest, and state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. with the remaining 60%.
