The Shale Gas News, heard every Saturday at 10 AM on 94.3 FM, 1510 AM, 1600 AM, 104.1 FM and Sundays on YesFM, talked about Nacero, EPA Climate Rule, gas prices and much more last week.
The Shale Gas News has grown again to the Williamsport area on stations WEJS 1600 AM & 104.1 FM. The Shale Gas News is now broadcasting in Bradford, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Luzerne, Lycoming, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga and Wayne Counties, as well as in greater central PA and now the Williamsport area. The Shale Gas News is aired on Saturday or Sunday depending on the station.
Every Saturday Rusty Fender, Matt Henderson and I host a morning radio show to discuss all things shale gas. This week, as a guest, we had Stacy Garrity, Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Shale Gas News, typically, is broadcast live. On the November 6th show (click above), we covered the following new natural gas territory (see news excerpts below):
- Nacero bringing new facility, jobs to Luzerne County. It’s being called the largest economic project in the history of Luzerne County, and possibly the entire region. A natural gas processing facility will be built in Newport Township. It was announced today Nacero incorporated will bring in 35,000 to 4,000 construction jobs which include 450 to 500 permanent high-paying jobs. And billions will be pumped into the local economy.
- What the Supreme Court’s move means for EPA climate rules. The Supreme Court may be poised to put new guardrails on the Biden administration’s climate agenda after justices agreed last week to consider the extent of EPA’s authority to regulate carbon emissions. The court sent shock waves through the legal world when it agreed Friday to consider a consolidated challenge from Republican-led states and coal companies. The challenge stemmed from a federal court ruling that struck down a Trump-era regulation gutting EPA’s climate rule for power plants.
- U.S. Energy Secretary Sees Gasoline Prices Easing But Blames OPEC. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said U.S. gasoline prices could decline by early December and singled out OPEC as a reason for why Americans have been paying more at the pump. “That oil market is controlled by a cartel,” Granholm said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “That cartel is OPEC. OPEC controls more than 50% of the petroleum supply and more than 90% of the petroleum reserve.”
- Biden: Russia can’t manipulate natural gas for political purposes. President Biden said during a meeting with top German leaders on Saturday that Russia cannot be able to manipulate natural gas for political purposes. Biden met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Vice Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Group of 20 summit in Rome on Saturday and emphasized the importance of working to implement the U.S.-Germany Joint Statement on Support for Ukraine and European Energy Security in an effort to “ensure that Russia cannot manipulate natural gas flows for harmful political purposes,” according to a readout of the meeting from the White House.
- Oil Majors Won’t Come Running to Help World Facing Energy Crunch. The world’s biggest energy companies are producing the most cash in years, but don’t expect them to spend it on bringing on fresh supplies of oil and natural gas to combat shortages in Europe and China this winter. Exxon Mobil Corp., Royal Dutch Shell Plc and Chevron Corp. confirmed this week that, for the most part, they’ll spend their windfall profits on share buybacks and dividends. Capital expenditures will rise next year, but the increases come off 2021’s exceptionally low base and within frameworks established before the recent surge in fossil-fuel prices.
