trust

A free people cannot survive where there is no trust whatsover left between the citizenry and those of its insitutions responsible for upholding civil society.
Trust is the glue that holds civil society together and it is being lost everywhere we look today. Trust is lost whenever politicians ignore the rules they impose on everything else, when the likes of Boris Johnson and Gavin Newsom attend parties maskless while mandating intolerable Wu-Flu restrictions on their constituents. Trust is lost whener Big Tech and media outlets shut down debate over government policies. Trust is lost when agencies such as the DRBC take money from special interest groups lobbying the agency for rules they want. Trust is lost when politicians mandate vaccinations for individuals who already have much superior natural immunity. Trust, in fact, is being lost in a thousand ways today and iit will continue to rapidly undermining our civil society until we rise up and say we will no longer live by lies.
The trust issue is captured in this outstanding video from Neil Oliver, a commentator on GBN out of Britain:
Oliver nails it. Institutions doing the things we see today are simply corrupt to the core. But, how long will his videos even be available to watch except through back channels? YouTube is part of the throughly corrupt Google empire, an effective monopoly created through government protection from liability. It and other members of Big Tech are everywhere canceling viewpoints that don’t accord with the will of government and an addled occupant of the White House is loudly instructing them to do ever more censorship. Indeed, we now have an unholy alliance of Big Government with Big Tech and Big Media lying us to on every subject imaginable.
A new generation of journalists views their role as propagandists for Big Government, as this outstanding cartoon succinctly explains:
How does this relate to natural gas? Think climate change and how a corrupt network of hedge-funders and globalist elites are pushing it as a glorioius opportunity to grab power and money, while eliminating any opposition from a skeptical public. Anyone who has read even a modest amount on the subject knows the causes, extent and impacts of it are far from settled, yet accomplished scientists with superb track records of approaching the subject professionally are being thrown off Big Tech platforms by unknown company bureaucrats for even raising these questions. This is anything but science. No, it’s pure politics and all know it. It’s the big ESG scam and it’s too often easier to play along than raise questions.
This is the Orwellian world in which we now reside. Can it being reversed? That’s a huge question but my guess is yes. The Oliver video gets at the reason why. Trust is evaporating faster than one can utter protests, but that is, one hopes, a sign that a reckoning may be coming. It can only come through the people finally saying “enough” and grabbing the reins of our insitutions back from the wannabe masters of the universe. It’s about much more than voting. It involves, quite literally, getting involved in everything. It means taking back the institutions through which the left has marched by joining organizations and speaking up, by raising arguments and not surrendering to intimidation and by refusing to engage in the language of deception.
As depressed as one can get with the situation Oliver relates and watching what’s happening in Washington, it is also a reason to be hopeful. Public anger is reaching the boiling point and it will either lead to a total collapse of Western Civilization or a complete revival. Being an optimist for the most part, I chose to believe the latter, I take refuge from pessimists in the fact history tells us speculation always yields to facts in the end despite the ravages of hysteria along the way. Climate change hype seems to be accelerating at the moment, but the Earth is 4.5 billion years old and our moment is but a blip so short it cannot be seen with the naked eye.
What I do know and rely upon is that when I walk a plowed field along the Delaware after a rain and pick up a piece of chert crafted into a knife or other tool by Archaic period natives 6,000 years ago, which is common, I realize the Earth was an estimated 3º C warmer than it is today, which tells me man comes and man goes and today’s issues will soon disappear with the wind of perspective. Trust, though, was essential then to survive and remains so today. Lose that and we lose everything, but that’s the very reason I do not believe we will allow what’s happening today to prevail. I believe we will rise up and take back our society from those who would twist it into new playthings for their own enjoyment. That we must do so is self-evident.
