Hoping this note finds you in good health as we welcome Spring. So much has transpired since our last update in November. A hotly contested election and transfer of power, multiple and bumpy vaccination rollouts, trillion-dollar bailouts/relief packages (depending on your point of view), and certain politicians who not long ago were media darlings and are now under fire for mismanagement or unacceptable behavior. Although one constant has been Tom Brady winning Super Bowls, no matter his age or team.
It was definitely a busy winter. Last month I had the pleasure of joining the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) for a 30-minute “On the Issues” program covering a range of energy and environmental issues. Watch the episode here.
Many of the issues and themes discussed on PCN stem from the three-pronged attack the natural gas industry faces in 2021 (for more on these threats, see my article on “The Premeditated Murder of the Greatest Story Never Told”).
In CNX news, a few weeks ago we announced a partnership with the Bettis Brothers and The Bus Stops Here Foundation to bring greater awareness and access to opportunities in the natural gas industry to disadvantaged urban and rural communities in Greater Pittsburgh. This type of partnership is how we define the concept of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance-meaning that we, first and foremost, focus local. For more ESG thoughts, check out my recent piece on “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of ESG.”
Coming up, I’m looking forward to being a guest on Robert Bryce’s Power Hungry Podcast in April, and addressing the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association’s (PIOGA) Spring Meeting in Pittsburgh on May 19. Register and learn more here.
On the publishing front, The Leech is set for release on May 27 and can be preordered at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Indie Books. Many people have asked (and you might be thinking), “what is the leech and why the title?” So, I’ve added an expanded description here on the website.
That’s it for now. If you are over 65 years of age or at risk, we hope you have successfully secured a vaccination by now.
For the latest updates, please follow along on Twitter and visit the website each week for new commentary.
Best and talk soon,
Nick
