West Virginia Activity has been under the radar, but drilling is picking up. Latest facts and one rumor:

  • Gulfport Energy has drilled the deepest and longest lateral well in Harrison County in Ohio where it has also drilled another well. A third well is waiting completion in Guernsey County and Gulfport will be drilling a fourth and fifth well in Belmont County where it holds leases on 62,500 net acres.

 

  • Anadarko states that it could have activity in Coshocton County in Ohio as early as August and is drilling wells in Guernsey and Noble Counties.
  • Southwest Energy could be bringing more rigs into PA. (Rumor)
  • Carrizo Energy has established an office in Vienna, OH
  • Nobile Energy based in Canonsburg has entered in a strategic partnership with Consol Energy last year that included a 50% interest in 663,350 net underdeveloped acres in SW PA and NW WV. It currently has one rig running, but plans to have 15 rigs by 2015.

 

  • Rigs count have stayed some consistent with the latest week’s reporting.
    • PA Marcellus 76 rigs – down three from the previous week
    • PA Utica 4 rigs – down one
    • Ohio Utica 21 rigs -- unchanged
    • WV Marcellus 26 rigs – up one

 

  • The Northern Tier Marcellus Business Expo at Alparon Park this past Saturday had a good turnout, but not quite as strong as last year.
